An Italian man has been arrested for eating his fifteen adopted cats.

The man apparently adopted 15 plump cats from pet shelters, over a span of two years, so he can eat them, sometimes "in the company of friends."

The man spent about two years searching for the cats, usually preferring black ones that were at least 3 years old.

He eventually raised the suspicion of officials from a pet-welfare organization after repeatedly refusing follow-up interviews to see how the felines were doing..

“Initially they thought the man was taking part in Satanic rituals, so they decided to conduct a surprise visit to his home. They caught him just as he was about to kill one of the cats for consumption,” writes geobeats.

He was arrested after admitting to eating the cats in the company of friends, though it was unclear if the friends also ate the cat meat.
