San Francisco Film Festival to Honor Shahrukh Khan

The Badshaah of Bollywood, has taken a special place in the hearts of his fans with his overwhelming performances in several movies. Be it romance, action, comedy or negative, he has never disappointed us. He has been honored with several national and international awards over the years.

Now, Shah Ruk Khan will be honored at the 60th San Francisco International Film Festival on April 14 at the Castro Theater. He will also participate in a conversation on stage with Brett Ranter following a screening of his 2010 hit “My Name is Khan”.

His movies have managed to satisfy both the box office and critics, with movies like “Dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge,” “Devdas,” “Darr,” “Swadesh”, “Chennai Express”, “Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gham”. His recent release “Raees”, gave the Bollywood industry a good start to 2017.

“It is a great honor to welcome one of the world’s most recognized film personalities,” said SFFILM’s executive director Noah Cowan. “Above Shah Rukh Khan’s fame as an actor is a man known for his pervasive curiosity about the world around him, about technology, about our collective future. Khan is among the most engaging figures in any field and this night, in conversation with Hollywood wizard Brett Ratner, will be among the most memorable of this year’s festival events.”

James Ivory, John Ridley, Ethan Hawke and Gordon Gund will also be honored with tributes during the festival’s run.

San Francisco International Film Festival is celebrating its anniversary with a private invite-only gala on April 7th at the Forum in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

The festival runs from April 5th to 19th at various venues in the Bay Area, and it will unspool 200 movies including live events.

The Fest will bestow juried awards, including $40,000 in cash prizes, and more than 100 participating filmmaker guests.
