Buzz in ACB ranks: Command from HQ include `Botsa & Co’

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths seem to have a tough tussle between themselves. The recently launched tirade against the state Minister and PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana and his relatives in the liquor scam, as per reports has been instigated from Hyderabad. This was revealed by a legal notice issued by Vijayanagaram Range Circle Inspector M V Ganesh. He had issued notice to the top brass of the department, Additional Director Srinivasa Reddy. In the notice it is alleged that the senior officer had instructed the CI to include `Botsa and Co’ in his liquor scam report. When the latter disagreed he was abused, by the senior. Hence Mr Ganesh sought an apology from the senior and demanded Rs.10 Lakhs as compensation. This is the hot debated issue, at the moment, in the state.

It may be noted the liquor scam unearthed by the ACB has many names including several ministers and senior officers of the excise department. There is an utterly chaotic situation in the assembly, quite often on this issue, by the oppositions. Rumors also suggested that the PCC Chief along with some of his relatives were also listed in the report. But nothing solid had come out of the investigations, other than some officers being blamed. The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was silent on the issue, in spite of the oppositions voicing aggressively.

In response to two petitions demanding CBI probe into the liquor scam, the High Court recently has issued notices to the Chief Minister, TDP Chief, Ministers Botsa Satyanarayana, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, MLA P Sankar Rao, Chief Secretary, Excise Department Principal Secretary, Home Department Principal Secretary, Excise Commissioner, Director General ACB, DGP, CBI Director New Delhi, CBI JD Hyderabad, Union Home Ministry, Andhra Jyothi, Times of India, Sakshi, NTV and Vaarta.

Now the analysis by critics suggests why the senior officer of the ACB had taken this drastic step. On whose instigations were the instructions given. Botsa almost the number one man in the state has some people working against him and who could they be? Will a CI have the courage to issue legal notice to the bosses?  Another important aspect that the critics feel is the growing indifference between the CM and PCC Chief could be the root cause of the issue. So does that mean that the PCC Chief who is right now in Delhi, planning to brief the issue to the high command? What is in store in the near future for the state?
