Southwest Airlines has announced the launch of annual three-day winter fare sale for travel during the slow winter months. With 180 daily non-stop departures, the airline is one of the busiest operators in Phoenix. On the basis of distance, the airline is offering one-way fares of $49, $73, $99, $129 and $149. It is a good sale on non-stop flights for travel 2 December to 16 December and 5 January to 10 February.
Sample fares are $49 to San Diego, Los Angeles and Las Vegas; $73 to Denver and San Francisco; $99 to Seattle, Portland and Dallas; $129 to Minneapolis, Milwaukee and New Orleans and $149 to Atlanta.
Even though the fares are not low when compared to similar promotion launched by Southwest many years ago during the recession, savings should be found by the travelers over its standard fares.
However, it is not for travelers hoping for a cheap weekend getaway as the sale is not best for Friday or Sunday travel. Only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is Las Vegas travel available.
Major fare sale from Southwest a few months back led to the crash of its website. Travelers are also advised to shop around to keep in track about the sale fares from the competitors.
