The year 2014 has given us many memorable moments of both joy and sad, we are getting ready to enter in to the New Year 2015 with full of aspirations and dreams to achieve and to celebrate. Here WISHESH is presenting you a concise of the important events taken place in 2014.
January
Sunanda Pushkar (52), wife of congress' politician Shashi Tharoor, a former Union Minister, was died on 17 Jan, in a five star hotel in a suspicious manner. Few days after her allegations on her husband and a Pakistani Journalist (woman) this incident took place.
59th filmfare awards 2013 presentation ceremony on 24 Jan, held at the Yash Raj studio in Mumbai.
Deepika Padukone awarded for Best Actor in Leading Role (Female) award for the movie Ram-Leela.Farhan Akhtar,for best actor in leading role (male) for the movie Bhaag Milka Bhaag. Director of this movie, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, also got best director award.
Others who got awards are Rajkumar, Shilpa Shukla, Nawazuddin siddiqui, Monali Thakur(singer), ‘Subhash kapoor, Mithoon, Ankit Tiwari and Jeet Ganguly for best music for Aashiqui 2'.
Japan PM, Shinzo Abe attended the 65th Republic Day celebrations of India as Chief Guest. Japan and India are good partners in many issues. Abe’s visit strengthened our ties with Japan.
February
Renowed scientist C.N.R Rao and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar were on February 4th conferred the Bharat Ratna, The highest civilian award of the country. Prof. C.N.R Rao is third scientist to be honored with Bharat Ratna whereas Sachin Tendulkar is first sports person to get Bharat Ratna award.
Indian-born Satya Nadella named New CEO of software giant Microsoft, on 4th February, succeeding Steve Ballmer. Satya Naryana Nadella has completed his schooling from Hyderabad Public School and he completed his bachelor of engineering from Manipal Institute of technology, Manipal, Karnataka.
March
Malaysia Airlines plane MH 370 went disappearing on this day with 239 people on board. This Boeing 777-200ER started from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing Capital International Airport. And it is believed to be crashed in South China Sea. Many reports about the Crash also came but unconfirmed by the officials.
April
ISRO successfully launched Navigation satellite IRNSS-1B, This navigation satellite is among the proposed seven satellites intended for navigation purpose like GPS. UK, China and Russia are having their own navigation system. India will join the club now.
On 15th, Supreme Court recognized transgender as ‘Third Gender’, Earlier they were compelled to write either male or female. A long pending dream of Hijras had came true with this recognition. Transgenders were reluctant to enter their sex earlier as male or female.

BJP party won the elections race and gaining 282 seats alone is unseen in the past 3 decades. National Democratic Alliance secured overwhelming 343 seats the results were announced on May16 and Narendra modi taken oath as 15th Prime Minister on 26thMay, his team (Council of Ministers) also taken oath that day. Modi led the elections in digital platform also, This elections given a serious blow to the parties like Congress, JDU, Samajwadi, BSP, LJD, JDS and Left parties. AITC, AIADMK, BJD,TRS stood against the blow of Modi wave.
On 3rd may landslide in Afghanistan killed at least 320 people, In this disaster Afghanistan lost many lives and huge property was damaged.
June
On 1st June, Shah rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight riders won the IPL of the 2014 series over kings XI Punjab team in final. Earlier Kolkata Knight Riders won the series once.
On June 2nd officially statehood was given to Telangana. 29th state of Indian union Telangana, was bifurcated from the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh after long movement. Actually congress’ Chidambaram announced about the initiation process for state formation on December9,2009 and reversed the same on December 23,2009 following huge movement for United Andhra Pradesh.
Beas Tragedy:
24 students from Hyderabad's VNR Vignana jyothi Engineering College accidentally washed away in Beas river on 8th June. The students from two telugu speaking states were killed in this accident following dam’s water release downwards.
July
Germany clinched the FIFA world cup 2014, over Argentina in the Final match. Germany won FIFA cup for four times.
On 17th of this month Malaysian airlines once again met the tragedy, as MH17 with 295 passengers was shot over Ukraine, near Russia border.
August
Tendulkar, Neetu Ambani, John Abraham, Abhishek And Ranbir launched the India Super league of football game.
On 4th August China earthquake taken away 367 lives.
September
ISRO created a wonder in international science and technology, MARS project successful and cheapest of all time.
Modi shown international reputation in Japan, USA and everywhere he focused on enhancing India’s status across the world.
On2nd Sep Modi impressed all the members who were present in the hall and millions of people watching the program by drum beating in Japan

12th October cyclone Hudhud cyclone created turbulence in the coastal areas of south eastern India, especially Andhra’s coast and Orissa's coast.
November
13 Nov, Rohit Sharma created history in ODIs scored 264 vs Srilanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata match. Rohit Sharma’s record is a jewel to Indian cricket team.
27 November Phillip Hughes lost life after head injury from a bouncer. Phillip Hughes of Australia was accidentally hit by a bouncer and fall down. His death while playing created shock in the sports world and questioned the safety measures following in Cricket.
December
On 16th December Tehreek e Taliban of Pakistan massacred 132 children in military run school, Peshawar of Pakistan. The Taliban militants entered the school and killed 155 people brutally, TTP claimed this attack as a revenge to the suppression activities of Pakistan Army in North Waziristan region.
On 18th December ISRO successfully launched GSLV Mk-III carrying unmanned crew from Sriharikota, which paved way for manned missions by India.
Year ended bitterly as 162 lives gone in air in AirAsia Indonesia flight QZ8501 crash on 28 december, Sunday.
