With the outbreak of the pandemic, things have taken a turn for the worse in the world, especially that in the United States. According to reports, if a person is receiving a stimulus check as part of the coronavirus relief aid, they are likely going to receive a letter signed by President Donald Trump as well.

The first copy of the President-signed letter was acquired by CNN that were given to the recipients of the stimulus check.

The letter is of one page and comes around in an envelope from the IRS under the authorisation of the Treasury Department. Both the postage and the fees for the same are being paid by IRS.

"We are fully committed to ensuring that you and your family have the support you need to get through this time," the letter reads. It further gives a clear clarification on how much a family is likely to receive and how they would receive it. On the other side of the paper is a translated version of the letter in Spanish.

Trump has also thanked Congress who have provided their support and guidance in working with his administration to sanction the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act which has been signed into a law.

In one of the White House briefings, President Trump said that according to the act, the government was responsible for sending out notices to the Americans on the benefits that they are receiving and in order to fulfill all the requirements, the Treasury Department has been mailing a letter to the President.

According to the legislation, it has been mentioned that following 15 days after with the Treasury issues a payment to an eligible taxpayer, they are going to receive a mail that is sent to the taxpayer’s last permanent address. These notices will include information regarding the mode of payment, the amount and every other detail associated with the same.

The Treasury Department of US has reported that over 88 million citizens of the country have received the stimulus payments in the last week. As of April 17, over 62 million people are still yet to receive the payments. While the individuals earning less than $99,000 are yet to receive $1200, the couples are going to receive $2400.

Democrats criticized when they heard that the physical stimulus checks are being accompanied with a letter from the President. Trump has even addressed the issue saying that adding his name to the checks is not a big deal. He also clarified that the same would not delay the payments that the Americans are to receive.

"Well, I don't know too much about it, but I understand my name is there. I don't know where they're going, how they're going. I do understand it's not delaying anything. And I'm satisfied. I don't imagine it's a big deal. I'm sure people will be very happy to get a big fat beautiful check and my name is on it," Trump said.

The White House is yet to comment on who decided to add the method of notice from the President. The Treasury Department has also not commented on the same.
