On Friday night, a self-driving Uber vehicle involved in a crash in Tempe, Arizona, a latest setback for the company reeling from multiple crises. Police responded to the area of the McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard at around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports about an accident. The authorities said that, a car failed to yield to the autonomous SUV and hit it. The self-driving SUV rolled onto the side as a result crash. In a photo posted on the Twitter, one of the Uber’s Volvo self-driving SUVs is pictured on its side next to another car with dents and also smashed windows. An Uber spokeswoman confirmed the crash incident, and also the veracity of the photo, in an email to the Bloomberg News. The spokeswoman could not confirm immediately if there were any injuries, or whether the car was carrying any passengers. Uber’s self-driving cars began picking up the customers in Arizona in the last month. Because of a series of scandals, Uber and also its Chief Executive Officer Travis Kalanick, are under scrutiny. The ride-hailing company has been accused of operating a sexist workplace. The New York Times reported that Uber used a tool called Greyball to help drivers to evade government regulators and enforcement officials. And Kalanick said that he needed "leadership help" after Bloomberg published a video showing him arguing with an Uber driver. Denton Woman stranded in Arizona feared Google maps have led her to death Uber’s self-driving car program has also been mired in controversy. Waymo, an Alphabet Inc., an autonomous driving business, sued an Uber unit called Otto earlier in this year for allegedly stealing designs for an important component of driverless cars known as lidar. Uber called the suit as "baseless." In contrast to the Uber, the incidents involving self-driving cars tested by Waymo. In more than two million miles of testing on the public roads, Waymo’s vehicles were mostly involved in minor incidents, often when other cars drove into the back of their vehicles in the busy areas. If Helen of Troy is real, So it Ram Sethu March 25, 2017 15:59

The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) will conduct an underwater exploration ‘Ram Sethu Pilot Project’ in search of material evidences in a bid to find out whether Ram Sethu is man-made or a natural phenomenon. Two week training will be conducted of 15-20 researchers and faculty of archeology, on marine archeology and underwater exploration. So far no ministry in involved with the project, though the ICHR plans to ask for grants from the Centre. ICHR will try to understand the development of sub continental civilization from 4th to 1st millennium BC, with the help of this project. "There have been remote sensing studies and other reports on Ram Sethu which are contradictory. We are now looking at material evidences." said ICHR chairperson Professor Y Sudershan Rao. Ram Sethu is a chain of limestone shoals between the Pamban Island of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka's Mannar Island. “If Helen of Troy is real why not Sethu,” he said. According to study of NASA satellite images in 2002 said that Ram Sethu is a human-made structure. But, NASA distanced itself from the claims, by saying that the images reveal nothing more than a 30-km-long, naturally occurring chain of sandbanks. Professor S M Ramasamy of Centre for Remote Sensing Bharathidasan University led a team in 2003; he said that the land between Ramanathapuram and Pamban were formed due to the long shore drifting currents. "As the carbon dating of the beaches roughly matches the dates of Ramayana, it is link to the epic needs to be explored." said S. Badrinarayanan, former director of the Geological Survey of India. He said that a natural formation like that would be impossible due to the presence of a loose sand layer under corals for the entire stretch. On the other hand, the Government of India, in an affidavit to the Supreme Court said that there is no proof of the bridge being built by Lord Ram. But in 2007, the Madras High Court said that Ram-Sethu is man-made, and asked the Central government to file and affidavits explaining, why it could not use an alternative route to create a canal instead. Anand Shanker Singh, the member secretary of ICHR, Alok Tripathi, a professor of archeology with the Assam Central University, is the coordinator if the project and will conduct the training. "The research scholars and junior teachers will be selected from the department of archeology of various institutions and they will be led by a team of scientists from marine institutes. We have seen that the Greek mythology Helen of Troy is in fact proven to be true. So we will speak about 'Ram Sethu' after the collection of evidences," said Sudershan Rao. Denton Woman stranded in Arizona feared Google maps have led her to death March 24, 2017 19:02

Amber VanHecke revised what happened, when she was stranded in a remote part of Arizona for five days. Amber VanHecke’s solo trip to the Grand Canyon got her stranded in a remote part of Arizona and found comfort in a family of prairie dogs. She said that the animals became comfortable enough that the prairie dogs ate out of the palm of her hand. “You have to entertain yourself in the dead hours,” VanHecke said. “I honked my horn to make [coyotes] leave the prairie dogs alone.” The 24-year-old Denton, was stranded for five days, she said that she owes her survival to skill that she learned as a Girl Scout in Plano. She luckily had extra water and food, including almonds, pumpkin seeds, Goldfish and dried fruit — that could’ve lasted her 18 days. VanHecke said that she ate only enough to stop hunger pangs and sat Ramen noodles on her dashboard to cook in the sun. "I had prepared for it, and I just didn't expect it to happen to me, and you never do I guess," VanHecke said. The University of North Texas student was traveling in the Havasupai Reservation, when her car ran out of gas on March 12, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said. Google Maps sent her down a road that did not exist. Noticing planes would occasionally fly overhead, on the second day she arranged rocks to spell “HELP” near her car. One day she was in her car sheltering from the sun when she heard a truck passing. She scrambled out of her car shoeless. "Oh my God, people!" she thought. She tried to get their attention, but the truck continued. She returned to her car nauseated from adrenaline and hunger. She began to hike towards east in search of signals in her phone, after she "got tired of waiting to be rescued," she wrote in a Facebook post. She estimated that she walked 11 miles Friday before being able to call 911 — a call that lasted just 49 seconds — and had nearly made it back to her vehicle when she was found. The Arizona emergency service sent a search team for her. During the air search, a helicopter crew noticed a glare near a road — VanHecke's vehicle and her help sign in rocks. The search team found the vehicle empty, but she had left a note explaining where she was headed. "So I spent five days constructing various signs to help someone find me," she wrote, adding that she also put a barricade in the road after a truck drove past without seeing her. Rescuers said VanHecke was smart, well-prepared and "did everything right." "She had food and water in her vehicle for the trip," paramedic Edgar Bissonette said. "Even though she was down to her last bit of water, it kept her going. When she left the vehicle, she left notes so we knew where to find her."
