People React On Possible End Of DACA Program

On Tuesday, President Trump is expected to make an announcement about his decision on DACA (Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals).

DACA program allows young people known as “Dreamers” to remain in U.S, even though their parents brought them into the country illegally when they were little.

Trump, who is expected to end this program will make the announcement on Tuesday, this means suddenly 8,00,000 young people will find themselves at the risk of deportation.

Young Eder Rosas Pimentel, who is living in U.S since she was five says, “I heard about DREAM Act since I was 14 years old, “Now I am 31. Half of my life, I’ve waited for something. Hard to imagine going back to a country I don’t remember, a country I have no ties to”.

“If it ends, it means 8,00,000 individuals, DREAMERS will lose jobs, lose continuing education, lose basic items like a Drivers licence,” said Dulce Matuz with the Arizona DREAM Act Coalition.

People in Phoenix are split on whether this program should end or not. There are speculations that the program for Dreamers will have a six-month delay, meaning it won’t end immediately. As he wanted to give time to Congress to decide on the future of DACA.

Trump can also change his mind, He’s been wrestling for months with what to do with DACA program, ending this program was one of his campaign promises, but once in office, he said Dreamers shouldn’t be worried about the possibility of facing deportation.

All the Questions about Dreamers Fate will be answered only after his announcement on Tuesday.
