Barricade situation at Peoria Avenue Hotel near I-17

Phoenix: Oct 31;
An armed man near an Interstate Hotel has caused a barricade situation, off Peoria Avenue Tuesday early morning. Police Officers are working towards controlling the situation but so far haven’t succeeded.

Police officers tried to stop a vehicle at the wee hours of Tuesday 2:30 am near the 27th and Dunlap Avenues. The vehicle was displaying a stolen license plate.

The driver went missing, after abandoning his truck near I-17 and Peoria. He then ran into a Hotel where he is believed to be with a female associate.

While searching the area the officers got a call from other Police officers stating a woman form that Hotel room is texting her family. She stated the suspect is armed and she was locked in the room which she couldn’t flee.

There are ongoing negotiations between the Police officers and the suspect for surrender. And the suspect has even threatened to shoot the Police officers if seen around.

There are no injuries reported so far. The Hotel has been under Police control partially and many rooms have been evacuated so far. The North bound access road along I-17 is also barricaded from Dunlap to Peoria Avenues.

Further negotiation and investigation is going on and more updates to come in.
