Don't Tie Raakhi in Bhadrakal

Raksha Bandhan is a festival of celebration between brother and sister, that is to commemorate the bonding between them. Sister will tie Raksha Bandhan to brother on the auspicious day of Sravana Poornima. The festivities generally fall on the full moon day of Shravana Maas. Where the brother promises to protect her sister, while sisters apply tilak on the brother's forehead and pray for the long life of the brother.

However in the modern days, Rakhi is being celebrated even between sisters, that is between any sex of siblings.

When it comes to 2023, Raksha Bandhan Tithi falls on two days, so it is called Bhadra Kaal. Badhra Kaal ends on August 30th at 09:01 PM, so after that, the auspicious time of Raksha Bandhan will start. It’s good to perform rituals before 07:05 a.m. on the 31st of August. Bhadra Mukha will begin at 06:31 PM on August 30th and will end at 08:11 PM on August 30th, that is on Poornima Tithi.

Rakhi tithi will start on August 30th at 10:58 AM and end on August 31st at 07:05 AM. This means the Rakhi ceremony should be performed only after the Badhra Kaal time is finished. So the auspicious time to tie Rakhi is between 09:01 PM on the 30th to 07:05 AM on the 31st. Most preferably it should be after the sunrise and before the sunset.
