In what can be deemed as its biggest catch so far, the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) racked up assets worth over Rs 100 crore from the house of Mahesh Chandra Sharma, a compounder with the Nursing Council of India (NCI).

Land documents dredged up from his house revealed that Sharma owned several resorts, homes, farmhouses worth crores and had recently acquired a plush hospital in Shipra Path in Mansarowar. It was also discovered that Sharma’s wife, who was his accomplice, was a partner in 25 nursing colleges across Rajasthan.

The modus vivendi of Sharma and his wife was to find flaws with nursing institutions and later demand a hefty fee to resolve the issues, affirmed General Ajit Singh,ACB Additional Director.

Sharma was earlier caught red-handed by the bureau officials for taking a bribe worth Rs 5 lacs.

Mahesh Chandra Sharma joined the Nursing Council of Indian in 2007 as an adviser to the president.
