Tata Motors has unveiled the updated version of the Punch EV, following the release of the refreshed gasoline version of the SUV. This new version features revised looks and fresh design elements ahead of its official release. While the outside design has been presented, further details remain undisclosed. The most significant change is at the front. The updated Punch EV removes the black trim that used to connect the headlights and replaces it with a more streamlined, closed-off grille, giving the SUV a more modern look. A continuous LED light bar now connects the daytime running lights, and the lower part of the front bumper has a slightly changed design for a trendier appearance. Tata has also launched new aerodynamically-designed alloy wheels inspired by the bigger Nexon EV. Additionally, the updated model will be available in a new exterior color inspired by the Harrier's 'Sunlit Yellow', combined with a contrasting black roof. Although Tata hasn't disclosed the design of the rear yet, it is anticipated that the EV will have connected LED tail lights like those on the petrol model.
Inside, there are expected to be only slight layout changes, but a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system running on the latest Tata software may make its appearance. The interior is likely to keep features such as a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver, ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, a 360-degree camera, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, ambient lighting, and technology that connects with a smartphone. It is also expected that a Level 2 advanced driver-assistance system package will be included to improve safety. Under the hood, the Punch EV facelift will still offer the same 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery choices. The smaller battery produces 82 hp and 114 Nm of torque, with a driving range of around 265 kilometers, while the larger battery generates 122 hp and 190 Nm, allowing it to travel up to 365 kilometers on one charge. With these design and feature upgrades, the refreshed Punch EV is projected to have a slight price increase over the current version, which is around Rs 9.99 lakh.
