Who doesn’t love banana chips? They can be labeled as a universal snack, munched by all. The popular Kerala banana chips are easy to prepare at home and are healthy compared to those processed in factories. The soul of the banana chips, made of unripe bananas, is coconut oil, in which they are fried. Few also bake, dehydrate or microwave banana slices to prepare this yummy snack. Let us get into the recipe.

Ingredients required to prepare banana chips

Green (unripe) plantains: 4, peeled, sliced into thin rounds and washed
Coconut oil: 2 cup
Water: 3 cups
Turmeric: 1 teaspoon
Chili powder: 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste

Who to make banana chips

1.Make a solution of salt, water and turmeric.
2.Place banana slices into the solution and leave for 5 minutes.
3.Mix thoroughly.
4.Drain water completely.
5.Pour and heat oil in a medium sized kadai.
6.Add slices in batches in hot oil.
7.Fry till they turn golden color.
8.Transfer onto paper napkin.
9.Repeat the process with remaining slices.
10.Sprinkle the chips with chilli powder and salt.
11.Allow them to cool.
12.Mouth watery banana chips can be stored for up to a week in an air-tight container.
