The first image of 'Pele', the much-hyped film on legendary Brazilian soccer player Pele has been released. The film is being currently shot at Rio de Janeiro.
The still features Leonardo Lima Carvalho, the young actor who portrays soccer king Pele, 'playing with a soccer ball made of socks in the alleys of Bauru, Sao Paulo, where he grew up'.
The film stars Vincent D'Onofrio, Rodrigo Santoro, Diego Boneta, Colm Meaney and Seu Jorge. It is being produced by Imagine Entertainment and Seine Pictures. Santoro is the associate producer.
Pele is a biopic, 'chronicling Pele's rise from the slums of Sao Paulo to become the people's hero when, as a 17-year-old, he led Brazil to its first World Cup victory, in 1958'.
