The Madras High Court on Tuesday (January 20) postponed its decision in the Jana Nayagan censor certificate issue. Now, according to the newest information, the Madras High Court will deliver its final decision regarding Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan on January 27, 2026. Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan represents Vijay’s last movie before he fully enters politics and was initially scheduled to be released on January 9 as a special for Pongal. However, shortly before the intended release date, the CBFC notified the filmmakers that the chairman had opted to send the movie to a revision committee. As a result, the producers approached the Madras High Court. On January 9, Justice PT Asha ordered the CBFC to promptly award the film a U/A 16+ rating. This relief was temporary, as Additional Solicitor General ARL Sundaresan, representing the CBFC, urgently addressed the Chief Justice. The division bench then suspended the single judge’s ruling and arranged further hearings for after the Pongal holidays.

The filmmakers later appealed to the Supreme Court, contesting the stay by the High Court division bench. The Supreme Court refused to consider the request and instructed the Madras High Court to resolve the matter quickly, also inquiring about the speed of the case proceedings. After reviewing detailed arguments on January 20, the Madras High Court decided to postpone its order on Tuesday. Also featuring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Narain, Jana Nayagan is produced by KVN Productions and is still waiting for information on its censor certification and release date.
