JioThings, the IoT division of Jio Platforms, has introduced a new car accessory in India. Called JioCarSync, it allows users to change their current wired infotainment systems into wireless ones for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. According to the company, it removes the need for wires while keeping essential features like navigation, music streaming, calls, and voice commands available. The device works with cars that have wired CarPlay or Android Auto installations from the factory. In India, JioCarSync is priced at Rs. 2,399 and can be bought on Amazon. In the country, the adapter comes with a one-year warranty. The company states that JioCarSync has an easy plug-and-play setup and is made for vehicles that have wired CarPlay or Android Auto systems pre-installed. The package includes support for both USB Type-A and Type-C connections, along with a Type-C adapter for cars with USB-C ports.

The company claims that it connects to a paired smartphone in about five seconds after starting the vehicle, which means users do not have to set it up manually each time they get in the car. It utilizes Bluetooth 5.3 and 5GHz Wi-Fi to provide wireless access to CarPlay and Android Auto. According to Jio, the device keeps existing car controls while adding wireless features. This allows users to control functions using the steering wheel, touchscreen, and built-in microphones of their infotainment system. Additionally, JioCarSync is compatible with voice assistants like Siri and Google Assistant for hands-free use while driving. It supports iPhones running iOS 12 or newer, as well as Android phones with Android 11 or higher. Also, it features OTA (over-the-air) software updates, which let the company provide software fixes remotely. The adapter is said to be small and lightweight, weighing only 20g, with a strong polycarbonate body. Other features include support for surround sound audio, compatibility with calling and entertainment apps, and automatic pairing capability.
