Honeywell announces layoffs for third time!

The Phoenix-based aerospace company, Honeywell is announcing to cut jobs for the third time in the past year, citing a continued downturn in the industry.

The AZCentral reported, the Honeywell International Inc. is the ninth-largest employer in the state. It did not specify the number of job cuts.

The company employed 9,500 workers at multiple facilities in Arizona.

Spokesman Scott Sayres said in a prepared statement, that, “Certain aerospace industry sectors remain in an extended slowdown environment.”

“We’re reducing a small number of positions mainly in our manufacturing and engineering areas to respond to current customer demand and align costs, while best positioning the business for the long term.”

“We remain confident in the long-term growth of the industry and our aerospace business,” he said.

Honeywell Aerospace in July announced it would cut jobs at the Phoenix-based Aerospace Division of Honeywell International Inc. That was after workers took a week of unpaid time off from June to July this year, and after layoffs and furloughs last year.
