Indian Banking Services to Be Obstructed As Employees Go On Strike for Two Days

The representatives of State Bank of India, which is one of the largest lender in the country said that, its services may be obstructed on May 30-31.

Today, all the banking employee Unions have come to roads, to take part in proposed two day strike, about 21 banking unions are participating in the protest, the rally of bankers have been pressuring for various demands, which also includes wage revision in the wake of the proposal for at least 2 percent of hike in salary.

The organizers have told that Indian Banks Association (IBA) has passed communication to all the banks and also reported to the United Forum of Bank.

The United Forum of Bank Unions, have served notices to go on Nation Wide bank strike on May 30 and 31, 2018.

The leaders of UFBU have gathered all other bank unions under its leadership like INBEF, INBOC, AIBEA, AIBOC, NOBO.NCBE, AIBOA,NOBO, NOBW and BEFI.

The unions participating in the strike, also opposes delay of IBA in resolving a contract of Conditions, along with casual approach of government for revision of wages in favour of bank employees, a meager offer of 2 percent hike in wage revision.

The authorities and representatives of UFBU is demanding an time saving and early wage revision settlements, with satisfactory increase in salary and improvising other service conditions along with wage revision settlement to include all officers up to the scale of VII.

Many other banks likes Bank of Baroda, Punjab national bank, Canara bank, have announced that the, banking functions would be obstructed during the strike.

"If the strike materialises, a certain section of the Bank's employees may participate in strike on the said date, in which case, it is likely that the normal functioning of the branches / offices of the Bank may gaffected," PSB said last week.

The bank officials said that, the union is taking all the necessary steps in terms of existing guidelines to deal with protests for smooth functioning of banking offices.
