The Delhi police have uncovered a significant global illegal arms trafficking operation that supplied weapons from China and Turkey to India. Authorities reported that the group, associated with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was moving advanced pistols from Pakistan to India using drones. They arrested four important members of the group, including a wanted criminal named Mandeep from Punjab, along with two of his close associates, Rohan and Monu, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh. The police also seized ten costly foreign pistols and 92 live cartridges. Mandeep, who belongs to the Sonu Khatri gang, has many criminal charges against him, including murder. The investigation has shown that the drones delivered the weapon shipments at specific spots. These packages were wrapped in carbon paper to avoid detection by scanners. The gang members were then directed to retrieve the weapons from these delivery sites and transport them to Delhi.
These weapons were later handed over to criminals in Delhi and nearby regions, as stated by officials. The police are currently trying to find out how many weapons were sold in India and which gangs or individuals participated in this illegal operation. It is believed that the main organizer of this operation is Jaspreet, also known as Jassa, who is located in the US and stays in touch with his contacts in Pakistan, according to sources.
Security agencies are also probing other gang members and their connections by examining mobile phone data, bank information, and social media records. Security measures in Delhi and other areas across the country have been heightened following a bombing that occurred in the national capital last Monday. Tragically, 15 individuals lost their lives, and many others were injured when a suicide bomber named Umar un Nabi detonated a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort, also known as Lal Qila, on November 10.
A few hours prior to the explosion, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced that they had dismantled an interstate and international "white-collar" terror cell linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, a group affiliated with al-Qaeda. They also reported the seizure of 2,900 kilograms of explosive materials, including ammonium nitrate, which was said to have been used in the Delhi bombing.
