Former Indian Cricketer Sanjay Majrekar believes that the Vijay Shanakar will be well suited for batting at number four position for World Cup 2019. As he thinks that shankar has the ability to hit big sixes and also rotate strike. As it is crucial to rotate strike in the middle overs.

“Vijay Shankar is my number 4 for his ability to hit sixes as well as rotate the strike. Play him as a batsman. As a bowler, he’s worth only three-odd bonus overs, not seven or the full quota of 10,” Sanjay Majrekar was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

Ambati Rayudu played few brilliant innings batting at that position but lacked consistency. The cricketer turned commentator thinks that playing in the crunch situation in the last few games made Vijay shankar to claim his spot in world cup squad.

“After his 90 against New Zealand in Wellington, I was sure he had cemented his spot. But three low scores and the rise of Vijay Shankar thereafter have put his place in question,”Manjrekar said

He also said Virat Kohli shouldn’t demote his batting position from number 3 as this position perfectly suits him.

“He must bat at No. 3. There is no point in demoting our best batsman, who has set the winning culture in this team,” he said.

In the recent times, Vijay Shankar has played some crucial knocks with bat and also as an all-rounder.

Hardik Pandya will make his way into the team as a genuine all-rounder and team management may well use shankar as specialist batsman in the team.
