The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max were the first devices from Apple to feature special vapour cooling systems. This innovation helped manage heat better, keeping the devices cool even when used intensively. Now, it appears that Apple is set to introduce vapour cooling to the upcoming iPad Pro models. According to Bloomberg, the next iPad Pro series, which will utilize the M6 processor, is likely to receive these vapour cooling systems. Apple just recently released the new M5 iPad Pro, which maintained a similar design to the earlier version. The report mentions that the vapour cooling will enable more effective heat management in the M6 iPad Pro. This addition might matter significantly since users could use the iPad Pro for demanding tasks and multitasking. So even with a larger area to disperse heat, a cooling system could be essential to avoid excessive heat buildup.
A vapour chamber is a sealed enclosure containing a small quantity of liquid that turns into gas and spreads out heat when a device overheats. Such a system can replace the necessity of a fan for cooling, which is what Apple employs for the MacBook Pro. The M5 iPad Pro already performs at a level comparable to the Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra chip. Therefore, users can effectively tackle any tasks with these high-end iPads right now. Additionally, Apple has emphasized more intensive AI processing with the M5 due to the new neural engines. The anticipated M6 chip is likely to enhance performance further, as it will probably be made using a 2nm process, leading to superior efficiency and performance. Another reason for incorporating this feature might be to set the iPad Pro apart from the more affordable iPad Air. The iPad Air is likely to soon be upgraded with the M5 chip, which will sufficiently handle most users' everyday tasks. Thus, a vapour cooling system would enable the company to market the Pro as the ultimate iPad for creators. Vapour cooling was showcased as an important selling feature for the iPhone 17 Pro models, and it is expected that Apple will utilize a similar strong marketing approach for the iPad Pro when it includes vapour cooling.
