Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 later this year, along with a new foldable known as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Although there hasn't been much information about the enhancements for this year's foldable devices, a recent leak indicates that the company will continue to use the same display technology in the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Instead, Samsung has incorporated its newer M14 technology into its regular flagship models. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is anticipated to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may come equipped with the Exynos 2600 chip. According to an unnamed source from the Korean news outlet ET News, Samsung will use the M13 OLED material for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. These OLED screens are expected to be provided by Samsung Display. This will mark the third year in a row that the Galaxy Z series foldables have utilized the same display technology. The company first introduced the M13 material in the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 in 2024. The current Galaxy S26 Ultra features a display with the newer M14 material, whereas the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ still use OLED displays made with M13 technology.
A source from the industry mentioned that, despite using the same M13 material, ongoing enhancements and stabilization have resulted in improved performance compared to when it first came out. The insider also stated that there is a goal to avoid price hikes that could occur from introducing a new material. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are expected to be revealed this summer, along with the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumored to include a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch main display. It is also expected to have a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. This foldable is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and may come with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W charging. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is anticipated to feature the Exynos 2600 chip and could be equipped with a 4,300mAh battery. It might also have a dual rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
