A total of 18 teachers have been conferred with the prestigious Rodel Exemplary Teacher awards this year for their extraordinary contribution in the field of teaching.

Seven teachers from Maricopa County and eleven statewide have been recognized for their exceptional teaching feats in regards to high-need schools, effective classroom practices and their potential as outstanding mentors to the future crop of teachers.

The Scottsdale-based Rodel Foundation of Arizona annually recognizes teachers with outstanding accomplishments who can set the base for the soon-to-be teachers.

The winning teachers will receive $5,000 each and will mentor about six student-teachers over the next three years.
