Bollywood star Akshay Kumar on Friday talked about a troubling real-life experience involving his 13-year-old daughter that brought attention to the rising dangers of cybercrime for kids. He remembered how, a few months ago, while she was playing an online game, a stranger reached out to her and asked for personal photos. He shared this incident during the opening of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai today. "I want to share a little story that happened at my home some months ago. My daughter was engaged in a video game, and there are games where you can interact with others. You can be playing with someone you don’t know," Akshay mentioned.

"While she was playing, she received a message. Then one message popped up asking if she was a boy or a girl. She answered that she was a girl. After that, he sent another message asking if she could send him nude images of herself. This happened to my daughter. She immediately shut everything down and went to tell my wife. This is how these situations start. This also falls under the category of cybercrime... I would like to ask the Chief Minister if we could have a session each week in our Maharashtra state for children in grades seven, eight, nine, and ten, to educate them about this issue. You all know that this type of crime is becoming more serious than physical crime. It is crucial to put a stop to this behavior...," Akshay disclosed. The 'Welcome' actor also urged the government to make cyber education a weekly topic for students in grades seven through ten so they can remain safe and knowledgeable in the ever-evolving online world. Akshay was joined at the event by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Iqbal Singh Chahal (IPS), and Rani Mukerji, among others.
