Microsoft has been working to rebrand its search engine Bing and the developer community has witnessed significant changes to the service in the recent past.

Microsoft is currently bringing a lot of changes to its brand and the company has recently renamed the popular Office 365 to Microsoft 365.

The company is working to rebrand its search engine Bing and the developer community has witnessed significant changes to the service lately.

There has not been any official announcement of this to date but Microsoft has either expanded what appears to be A/B testing where some people can see the old Bing logo and some see the ‘Microsoft Bing’ logo, or has completely switched to a new style.

This information was shared by Paul Thurrott, an award-winning Journalist and technology blogger.

All this information makes sense as the company Microsoft is much bigger than just Bing.

The new brand and the logo Microsoft Bing is appeared to have made their way to the Bing homepage too.

The company has also rebranded and named Windows defender as Microsoft Defender.

Currently, Google dominates the search engine market which is also a pioneer in this industry. In June, Google had nearly 84 percent market share while Bing had only 6 percent share according to the data from NetMarketShare.

In its fourth fiscal quarter of 2020 results, Microsoft said that its search engine revenue has decreased by 18 percent or $353 million from the same quarter of the previous year as the advertisers have spent less on advertisements or paid search results.

Microsoft has also recently updated the Outlook for the android app to add bing search integration to the long press menu.

Some users who have Microsoft Outlook on their phones have noticed a new option to perform Bing search when selecting the text.

After opening the outlook app to check an email, and if a user long presses on a word in the text of certain email, a pop up menu will appear with three options: Web search, Translate and Bing Search.

As a competitor to Google, Apple is also ready to launch its new search engine that uses AI and machine learning to display search results.

Apple’s search engine will more likely look like a personalized data hub which does not read your personal data but shows relevant results based on contacts, reminders, apps etc.
