Phoenix Reacts On Trump Aborting DACA

On Thursday reports surfaced that Trump is sticking to his Campaign promise to end DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program as early as Friday.

People in Arizona are reacting to this news, DACA has protected around 30000 people in the state, probably now they will face an uncertain future.

This DACA program was initiated by President Barack Obama in June 2012, this program provides two years protection from deportation and a work permit for those who entered United States as children.

Karina Ruiz with Arizona Dream Act Coalition has spend over half of her life in Arizona, and has 3 kids. If this program is terminated she could be sent back to Mexico Anytime.

She says, “I finished my high school here, ASU Bachelor of science in Biochemistry”, I believe that is not a responsible thing to do, 8,00,000 lives in jeopardy, in limbo. If he decides to do something like that, people like me are vulnerable for deportation.

Chicanos Por La Cause says they signed up for DREAMers believing they were safe.

“These students went through the process”, “Some advised this could happen sure enough we are, new president. I don’t want to do this anymore your off on your own”, says David Adam.

Reyna Montoya, says that some of the immigrants like her will face a dangerous future if deported, people eager to send immigrants like her back to Mexico doesn’t understand full picture.

She said, “My dad was escaping violence”, Are you OK with me dying in a country that I don’t consider home?

However, ending DACA program is harmful to national security also as it eliminates young people to become active and participate in their communities.

Today, there are around 7,50,000 beneficiaries. Each of these individuals is closely assessed every two years to ensure that only those with no criminal history are allowed to participate in the program.

Ending DACA program will make nation less safe. Nation will be at loss of hard working young talented people who wants to contribute to our society.
