Origin OS 6, which is built on Android 16, will soon be available in India for iQOO smartphone models, as announced by the CEO of iQOO India through a social media update. This new version of the OS will take the place of the Funtouch OS 15 interface, but it is not yet known if current iQOO and Vivo devices released in India will get the update to OriginOS 6. In China, Vivo and its sub-brand’s phones operate on the company’s Origin OS interface. Now, it appears that they are introducing the same interface in India. This news follows a tip that the Chinese tech company will be launching Origin OS 6 in India shortly. In a message on X, previously known as Twitter, Nipun Marya, the CEO of iQOO India, confirmed that Origin OS 6 will be arriving in India soon. This new interface, built on the up-to-date Android 16 operating system, will replace Funtouch OS 15, which is based on Android 15, in this region. At present, Vivo and iQOO phones in India use the Funtouch OS interface, while the versions in China run on Origin OS. However, this is set to change, creating consistency across different markets.

This affirms recent information that Vivo, along with iQOO, is launching Origin OS 6 in India. Furthermore, just a few hours before this announcement, the company changed the FuntouchOS account name on X to OriginOS (@FuntouchOS_IN), signaling another clue. Recently, a supposed employee from Vivo India shared in a post on Reddit’s r/Vivo that the update for Origin OS 6, which is based on Android 16, will be rolled out in India by the Chinese smartphone company soon. Even though the company has provided a timeline for the software update, it is expected that it will first be available for the brand’s higher-end smartphones, and then it will eventually be available for mid-range and budget phones in the country. Vivo has also revealed plans to introduce Origin OS 6, which is based on Android 16, first in China on October 10 of next month. The new flagship models, named Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro, might be the first devices to come with this new Android 16-based interface pre-installed.
